Mackey Auto Group is excited to announce we have acquired Whalen Chevrolet, building on four decades of family and community tradition in Greenwich, NY nurtured by former owners George and Tim Whalen.
Located only 18 minutes from our Ford and Subaru dealerships near Northway I-87 Exit 15 in Saratoga Springs, and only a short drive from our Middlebury Chevrolet dealership in Vermont, the new dealership fills a natural role in the Mackey Auto Group. Both new and pre-owned inventory will be freely shared between the stores, allowing our customers greater vehicle selection and a choice of convenient service locations.
Also new to the Mackey Auto Group family is Jeffrey Carrington, Vice-President/Partner. Jeff will be taking over the helm from the Whalens, handling the day-to-day operations of the newest dealership, which has been renamed MAG Chevrolet of Greenwich. Jeff’s relationship with Chris Mackey goes back over two decades to his long-term tenure as General Manager of Toyota of Westport in Connecticut.
“We are excited to bring the Mackey Auto Group family to Greenwich and build on the community spirit established by Tim and George Whalen for the past 40 years ,” said Mackey Auto Group Managing Member Chris Mackey.
“To have Jeff Carrington as our partner, with his extensive experience and commitment to taking care of our customers, is truly exciting! We’re also particularly proud of our relationship with Community Bank in helping fund our growth with both this dealership acquisition in Greenwich, NY and at our new Excelsior Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY Commercial Service facility.” added Christopher Mackey, Dealer Principal/Partner.
“Everyone at Mackey Auto Group works hard to provide each customer with a world-class dealership experience,” said Jeff Carrington. “We treat each customer, and our employees, like family and we invest in important community causes, too.”
“We were very selective about passing on our family’s legacy to the right kind of organization” said Whalen Chevrolet co-owner George Whalen. “Working with Chris, Christopher and Jeff in recent months has reassured me that we made the right choice. We felt that going with a locally based, family-owned group was best. The Mackey’s have the experience, values, and resources needed to take the Chevrolet brand to the next level in Washington County, while being sensitive the the needs of our local Greenwich community.
Tim Whalen, Whalen Chevrolet co-owner added “I know that people in Greenwich are going to find the Mackeys and Jeff Carrington are nice people to do business with, just like we already do. Tim also mentioned how important local involvement in the community was to him and feels confident the Mackey Auto Group will continue that tradition.”
The Mackey family has extensive automotive experience, including leading one of the region’s largest and most successful dealership groups based in Saratoga Springs, NY for over 30 years. Their hands-on approach turns customers into fans not just of their vehicles but of their dealerships and people as well.
Thank you to all of our loyal customers! Your support helps motivate us every day to further our growth, and our commitment to each community we serve. We invite you, along with the many long-time customers of the Whalens, to stop by MAG Chevrolet of Greenwich and say "Hello".
